Lockheed

The MN-01 LC1 is better known as the Lockheed Lounge. The chair derives its name from its appearance. Made from glass fibre and polyester, covered with a layer of aluminium and visible rivets, Newson created a parody on the airplane aesthetics.

The Lockheed is one of the best know pieces of design furniture in the world. In any case, the most expensive. At in auction in 2007, the chair sold for 968,000 dollar, only to be auctioned again in 2009 for 1.6 million dollar. A new record for a furniture design.
