Flag Halyard Chair
by Hans J. WegnerLabel: PP Møbler
Year: 1950
Different then most models of Hans J. Wegner, the Flag Halyard chair has no historical origin.
It's lovely to sink into the rvs base, which has 240 meters of braided rope and is provided with a leather headcushion. Often this model is also covered with soft sheepskin. The designer wanted to emphasize with this design that we don't need to take furniture design so seriously. 'We have to play in an serious way', Thus Wegner about the Flag Halyard.
Although the chair looks pretty futuristic, the chair is originated on a basic level. Wegner was laying in the sun, looking at his playing children on the beach. To sit in an comfortable way, he dug the chair into the sand. This was the base of the Flag Halyard chair.
Nowadays the chair is sold by the Danish producer PP Mobler. The chair is named PP225.
