Acrilica Table Lamp

The Acrilica Tablelamp is not only special to see, but it's also innovative. Through internal reflection it, indirectly, gives light that appears through the curled part of the lamp. Hereby it is just like the light is climming up. It's a combination of art and practical design. The lightsource is hidden in the foot of the luminaire which gives it the appearence of a work of art, even when the light is switched off.
This model, also called 281 is designed by Joe Colombo together with his brother Gianni Colombo. They came up with another version, that has an more complicated curl but this design was never taken into production.
The Acrilica lamp was awarded with the Medaglia d'Oro award in Italy. Joe Colombo always designed thinking of the future. According to him designers are the creators of the environment of the future. With the Acrilica he experimented with new lighteffects and with the interaction between perspex and kinetics. The designer had a passion for lamps.
