La Chaise
by Charles en Ray EamesLabel: Vitra
Year: 1948
Charles and Ray Eames designed La Chaise back in 1948 for a competition of the Museum of Modern Art. The actual production of the chair started in 1991 by Vitra. And only in very small numbers. La Chaise is not only suitable to sit on but also very suitable to lie on. The organic shape of the chair is inspired on the Floating Figure, a sculpture of sculper Gastono Lachaise.
The chair is made of polyester with a chrome frame and a oak-wooden base. Vitra: ''It is a icon of organic design art.''
