The chair is named after the Grand Prix Award, which it won in 1957, Milan. It was the highest award on the exposition. The design of Arne Jacobsen was, shortly before the exposition, introduced by Fritz Hansen at the Designers Spring Exhibition of the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen, 1957.
It is a lightweight chair, rackable and available in a broad spectrum of colours, fabrics or leather coating. Fritz Hansen has re-introduced the Grand Prix in 2006. He is available in 3 different heights.
